Join the Friends of the Petoskey Public Library on the fourth Monday of each month for their Carnegie Speaker Series.
For more than two years, a group of 40 members of the local Presbyterian church have been assembling lithium ion battery packs that go inside individual solar light kits. These light kits are distributed for free to people living in eastern Ukraine who have not had electricity for over three years. Eight hours of exposure of the solar panels charging the battery packs results in 24 hours of light or the ability to charge a cell phone. Join the Friends of the Library on Monday, October 27, at 7:00pm in the upper level of the Carnegie Building, for a presentation by Rick Donahoe about this ongoing initiative. Donahoe is a retired engineer who's worked in oil, gas, and nuclear industries for 35 years on projects all over the world. After retiring, he started up several non-profit organizations and is currently working on becoming a commissioned pastor.
