Event Details

Join the Friends of the Petoskey Public Library from 7:00pm to 8:00pm for their Carnegie Speaker Series in the upper level of the Carnegie Building (across the street from the Library).

For the March 24 program, we will be joined by Jane Garver, executive director of the Little Traverse Historical Museum, for a presentation on the gems she's discovered about Petoskey's Global Connections. Did you know that Petoskey has ties to Queen Victoria through its own “countesses”? Or that a young man left his family’s local drugstore to work at a Russian bank during WWI? And what about the remarkable woman who taught orphans in Turkey to knit intricate lace? These are just a few of the incredible stories of Petoskey residents who ventured far and wide, leaving their mark on the world. Join us to explore how these globetrotters shaped history and learn more about the fascinating journeys of those who made Petoskey their home.
