Event Details

Wild Ones (wildones.org) is a national organization promoting environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities. The local chapter of Wild Ones is now a program offered at the Petoskey District Library, meeting on the second Saturday of each month in the lower level classroom to share information and learn about native plants. The public is always welcome!

TOPIC FOR THE NOVEMBER 9 MEETING:

Using Native Michigan Plants to Benefit the Environment

Join us for a viewing of a pre-recorded presentation by Carole Gagliard, courtesy of the League of Women Voters Michigan, a non-partisan organization that is committed to understanding important issues that affect our environment. Carole has worked for years on the land around her 1860 farmhouse using native plants to increase the biodiversity for the benefit of the environment. This presentation will explain the benefits of native plants, the value of biodiversity, as well as what and how this type of planting can be done in large and small yards.
