Samba Card Game

No dancing required! Samba is a variation of the card game Canasta. The version of Samba played in the Library uses six 52-card decks plus 12 jokers. Each round takes around 30-60 minutes to play with players typically agreeing to play three rounds. Unlike Canasta, in which only cards of the same rank may be melded (grouped face up on the playing surface and scored), Samba also allows sequences of three or more cards in the same suit to be melded. The object of the game is to score the most points by making as many melds as possible. Those wishing to play should arrive on time so player setup can be determined and games can begin.
