The Straits Area Amateur Radio Club has existed since 1950, serving northern lower Michigan and southeastern upper peninsula. The SAARC is dedicated to providing reliable emergency communications and supporting local community events.

A Musical Journey for Young Minds!

Nurture a love of reading and books and build early literacy skills through stories, songs, and rhymes. For ages 0-5 and their grown-up(s).

Join Miss Lisa for play and discovery in the Children’s Program Room. Little ones 0-5 and their grown-ups can interact with toys and books that support early learning and development. 

String players of all abilities are welcome to join our small orchestra. The Lake Street Ensemble meets weekly at the Carnegie Building (upper level). Those attending play a variety of music and just have fun.

Join the PUPs (Petoskey Ukulele Players), a group of amateur, self-taught musicians every Thursday afternoon from 12:30pm to 3:00pm in the Lower Level Classroom. The program is open to new members of all ages and skill levels.

Looking to join in on the popular game of Mah Jongg? EVERY TUESDAY from 1:00-3:00pm, we have the Lower Level Classroom set up for Mah Jongg games for players to drop in and join a game.

Stop in and join our wonderful group of knitters and crocheters every Wednesday, from 1:00-3:00pm in the Library’s Large Meeting Room. This is for any age and level of expertise, though it’s best to have some basic skills.

This is History Makers! We will focus on someone from the past that has helped shape the future. Listen to a read aloud of a picture book biography and do a craft or activity based on the accomplishments of the person. 

Learn to play chess or play against others. Young people ages 8–18 are welcome to drop in. Chess Club is mentored by Robert Bemben, Robin Ray and Adam Masek.

Reading out loud helps kids become better readers! Suki, an adorable certified therapy dog, will be at the library to listen to kids read stories on Tuesdays in October and November beginning October 7th .

Our Teen Makers will meet every third Thursday for a fun maker project! The making will happen at 4:00pm in the Makerspace! *For ages 11-18, please*

The Page Turners Book Club typically meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Large Meeting Room. Titles are selected quarterly by the participants. Join us for a discussion and refreshments inspired by the story!
