Event Details

Join Dorothy Hughes Engelman, co-leader of Compassion & Choices Michigan Volunteer Action Team, in the lower level classroom from 1-2pm as she describes the mission, values, and vision of Compassion & Choices, a national nonprofit organization. C&C works to improve care, expand options and empower everyone to chart their end-of-life journey. Through this interactive presentation, C&C members will detail the medical landscape in Michigan today, explain advanced directives and why everyone should complete theirs, review dementia’s nuances and explain medical-aid-in-dying. Presenters will guide participants through slightly humorous, thoughtful interactive questions, and show a brief movie clip. Our Michigan Action Team members are trained to present clear, accurate information about end-of-life autonomy and equally important, clarify any preconceived misconceptions. They foster a comfortable atmosphere that promotes open dialogue for the audience. Local volunteer Carolyn Penniman will also share the story of how she became involved with the organization. Relevant handouts are available as well as the opportunity to chat with our presenters.

(Registration is not required and seating is limited in the lower level classroom. If you plan to come with a large group, please let us know. Thank you.)
